We’re back again with some commonly asked questions in regards to tanning beds being safe. If you have ever been tanning or know someone who does, you often wonder about the safety behind the indoor tanning beds. Well, today we’re here to explain some facts.

Is tanning just as dangerous as smoking?

Simply put, no. Tanning is your bodys natural defense against burning. There is really no way to compare the two since smoking is considered an unnatural process that your body rejects. Also, indoor tanning is a very controlled environment which is also beneficial as you’re not being exposed to the harmful effects of the sun.

Will tanning cause skin cancer?

There are many studies regarding cancer and tanning and even though studies have suggested that tanning can cause skin cancer, this whole issue still remains very complicated. Studies usually define the biggest risks factors for skin cancer are repeated sunburn and heredity. There are also studies showing people who are reguarlly exposed to the sun are at a lower risk for some forms of skin cancer. For example, indoor tanning is a lot safer in this respect.
