There are so many different types of indoor tanning bed lotions on the market that just picking the right tanning lotion for yourself can be a massive challenge. Depending on the indoor tanning salon company that you tan with you may very well be purchasing a bottle of indoor lotion that you never even tried, we don’t recommend that of course. We suggest trying any tanning lotion product BEFORE you buy it, some tanning salons like Extreme Tan and Smoothies offer a “Lotion Addict” program which rewards you for trying lotion before you buy it. Ask if your salon offers a similar program.

Best Indoor Tanning Results Tip

We suggest applying your indoor tanning bed lotion 30 minutes prior to your tanning session. However, it is important to avoid applying tingle lotions prior to your tanning experience as high temperatures can activate your tingle lotion causing discomfort while you wait to tan.

I tan every year but have problems tanning on my face and under arms and suggestions. I remove my makeup too.

You dont tan as well on your face because you wash it and shed your dead skin cells more quickly. This is what bronzer is for! This might be the same with your underarms or you may not position your arms far enough away from your body during tanning. This is why I like stand up beds. You hold the handles over your head and tan your underarms. :)

  • Just as Cat has mentioned, try a stand up bed to help your under arms and use a nice bronzing lotion for your face. Some beds offer a special area designated to help tan your face as well.

    • Hi Vicky,

Do you leave your tanning lotions in the car by any chance? And, have you tried a sun spot or white spot remover like HALT?

Thank you for reading and taking the time to comment.
