A few days ago here at Extreme Tan and Smoothies we talked about how being an indoor tanner doesn’t mean that you don’t have to make use of sunblock. We always promote that our clients use professional indoor tanning lotions when tanning indoors and a good name sunblock when tanning outdoors. One question that clients frequently ask when it comes to outdoor sunblock application, however, is how often they should apply their sunblock!

When Should I Apply Sunblock Outdoors?

When it comes to tanning outdoors and using sunblock the rules for sunblock application vary. Depending upon the individual sunblock the time for re-application of sunblock differs. Anytime that you look to tan outdoors you should apply a good quality sunblock that offers UV ray protection and each sunblock will vary based on its SPF. It is advised that sunscreen should be re-applied to dry skin after exposure to the water and even waterproof sunscreen should be applied after 80 minutes of water exposure.

Final Sunscreen Thoughts

Sunscreen is a crucial part of keeping skin healthy and as with over the counter drugs it is imperative that directions for individual sunscreen lotions be followed as they are given on the back of the sunscreen bottle.
