You may remember that a few days ago we announced that Extreme Tan and Smoothies will be holding our first ever Luv A Child event in order to collect supplies for the Suncoast Center, Inc here in Florida for the national child abuse prevention month. Today we wanted to give you all a follow up to share a few more details about the event that will take place on April, 16th.

The First Annual Luv A Child Event

The first annual Luv A Child event will take place on April 16th at all of the Extreme Tan and Smoothies indoor tanning locations. In order to support the Suncoast Center, Inc. we are asking that all of our tanners drop by and bring any of the items that are needed by the center in order to help their mission of serving children and families in the area.

Some of the items that are in demand at the center include:

- Toothpaste

- Toothbrushes

- Laundry Detergent

- Bar soap

- Tampons

- Food Vouchers

- Bath Towels

There are a great number of everyday items that are in demand at the center and if you would like a complete list please contact the Extreme Tan and Smoothies main location at 727-697-7826. Those who donate will even receive a free tan!

Today’s Parenting Tip

The Suncoast Center, Inc works very closely with families to share parenting tips that can help to improve relationships between parents and children. Today’s parenting tip from Extreme Tan and Smoothies involves taking time for yourself.

As a parent it sometimes seems ridiculous to even think about taking time for yourself; however, asking a friend or family member to watch your child for a few hours so that you can take a little break from your child is one of the healthiest things you can do. Often times parents feel that the only way to be a good parent is to give their child all of their attention all of the time and consequently neglect their own needs for respite. Being able to take a few hours to unwind whether you spend them at the library, getting a tan, in a coffee shop, at the gym or shopping – it doesn’t really matter as long as you are indulging in a little you time while someone responsible provides for your child.

Final Parenting Tip Thoughts

Being a parent is one of the hardest jobs that any of us will ever have to face and it can often feel overwhelming but with the help of a few parenting tips we can all learn how to reduce feelings of being overwhelmed while being good parents.

My mother will watch my son & I go tanning & get my nails done. I don’t get out as often as I would like or as often as I did pre-kids, but I know it’s healthy for my 7 year old son too. I’m sure I get on his nerves & like they say, a little absence makes the heart grow fonder! He’s always happy to see me when I get home & I am too!! I missed the little booger. I do feel guilty at times, but I learned years ago that “me” time is a great stress reducer!
