Guide To A Darker Tan

by Tanning Fanatic on June 29, 2009 438 views |

Tanning
Want a darker, natural looking tan?

The first thing that you need to do is build a base tan. You can do this by tanning on a regular basis and gradually increasing the amount of time you spend in the tanning beds. It can require anywhere from four visits to as many as eight depending on your skin tone.

In order to enhance your tan, you should use a tanning lotion to accelerate the process. This helps build and maintain the base tan. You should also exfoliate your skin before tanning.

After tanning, you should moisturize your skin, but make sure to avoid one with mineral oil. Mineral oil can actually prevent your skin from tanning as quickly.

After you have a base tan, you should go two or three times a week. You should alternate between stand up booths and tanning beds to get the most even tan. You can even consider switching between low and high intensity beds for the best tan.

Even the foods that you eat can help your tan looking dark. Foods rich in beta caratone like carrots, tomatoes, radish and broccoli are a must for tanners.

Make sure take care of your skin, never letting it dry out, especially your face.

It’s really not hard to get a natural looking tan, especially if you follow these simple and easy suggestions.

7 Tips For A Better Tanning Experience

by Tanning Fanatic on May 18, 2009 187 views |

If you’re new to indoor tanning or a tanning veteran, here’s some tips to improve your tanning experience.

1 – Use moisturizing lotion designed for indoor tanning. Outdoor suntan lotion can be bad for the bed and for you as well because it doesn’t provide the proper protection.

2 – Tanning indoors is safer than tanning out in the sun you still need to wear goggles or other protection for your eyes.

3 – Tanning longer than the suggested time can result in sunburns and skin damage.

4 – If it’s your first time tanning, especially if you have fair skin, start off with short amounts of time and work your way up.

5 – After you tan, use a skin moisturizer.

6 – If you have long hair, use a swim cap or put your hair up, so that it doesn’t stop you from getting an even tan.

7 – Don’t tan every day, tanning that often increases chances of damaging and or drying out your skin which can cause premature wrinkles.

Tips To Improve Your Tan

One of the keys to an amazing golden brown tan is what you do before you even step foot into a tanning bed.

Tanning lotions are important, but you have to apply it correctly to get the full benefits.

Before even putting the tanning lotion on, wash and or exfoliate your skin to get rid of an dead skin. This allows the tanning lotion to be spread all over your body.

With the tanning lotion, start by applying it to a small area of skin, then rub it generously and evenly until all of your skin is covered. Don’t just rub it in a straight line, rub in a circular manner for best results.

Don’t forget about the back of your legs, your feet neck and face. For your back, use one of the back applicators.

Tips to achieve the best self tan

by Tanning Fanatic on September 22, 2008 560 views |

Do you want the ease of the home spray tan without the streaky lines and spots? I found a bunch of great tips to help make your sunless at home tan even better and streak-free.

The first things you are going to want to have on hand are a pair of rubber gloves. These gloves should be tight fitting and thrown away after each use. Getting spray tanner on your hands or around your fingernails will make them brown and streaky. You want to avoid getting tanner on your hands, elbows and feet.

Your knees, elbows, armpits, under your forearm and your ankles should always be prepped before you tan. You can use a lotion or sunscreen in these areas to eliminate the buildup of the tanner.

Exfoliating is a huge step in spray tanning. You should always exfoliate every part of your body before getting a spray tan. When picking your exfoliator, make sure you do not choose one that is oil based or a moisturizer scrub. These exfoliators can prevent the tanner from being applied evenly to your skin. L’Oreal even makes a exfoliating scrub that is designed for sunless tanning. You can most likely find this at any local convenience store.

If you’re using a darker tinted tanner, you are going to want to shave your legs the day before you apply your spray tan. If you wait until the day of your spray tan to shave, you’ll leave your pores open which will allow the tanner to soak in and essentially create a spotted effect on your skin.

Facial moisturizers and body creams can damage your spray tan. You should avoid using these products as long as you can so that you allow ample amount of time for your spray tan to soak into your skin and not smear.

Never exercise (sweat), swim or shower directly after receiving or completing your spray tan. Also, do not get caught in the rain or you’ll be left with stripes and a smeared spray tan. You should allow your spray tan solution to completely soak in for 2-3 hours at least before attempting any of the above activities. If you want your tan to last even longer, you should avoid any types of saunas, hot baths or steam showers.

After you receive your spray tan, you’re going to want to make sure that you have dark, loose fitting clothing. If you wear tight fitting clothes, they will absorb the tanning solution and also leave dark creases in your skin.

One of the most sensitive and hardest areas to tan is your face. You always want to pay close attention when applying any type of self tanning solution to your face. One thing you are going to want to be careful with is your eyebrows. You can use a wet cotton swab to gently rub across your eyebrows to make sure there is no tanner in them. You can also use a moist cotton ball to remove the solution around your hair line. This will assist in giving you more of an all natural look.
