April 16th, 2011 is drawing closer and that means that the very first Luv A Child event is just around the corner and we are depending on you guys to help to make this one amazing event! We are asking every one of our clients to come by their local Extreme Tan and Smoothies indoor tanning salon to drop off any of the supplies listed in this post and this post to help the Suncoast Center here in Florida. The Suncoast Center, Inc. is a company that values providing services to families that encourage healthy family relationships and we can think of few other charities worth celebrating during the national month of recognizing child abuse. We want to reward you for putting a charity in to your life as well and any client who comes by with a product for the Suncoast Center and the Luv a Child event will receive a free tan!
Today’s Parenting Tip: Put Yourself in Your Kids Shoes
The truth of being a parent is that sometimes it can be frustrating. When we are overloaded with a list of chores to do, have errands to run and the boss has given us a long list of demands at work we can become impatient. Our impatience as parents can often result in arguments and fights that can easily be avoided by putting ourselves in our kids shoes before acting. If your son’s whining about being hungry is getting on your nerves on the drive home from carpooling, try to put yourself in his shoes and understand that he has had a long and active day at school and perhaps spending $1 on apple slices at a drivethru could prevent a complete meltdown for both of you. If your daughter’s complaining that her sister has ruined her favorite sweater is grating on your last nerve try to understand that often little girls have a hard time fitting in and rely upon their clothes to seem “cool” to their friends. It can be particularly difficult to let go of our own self focus at a time of frustration but when it comes to parenting it is one of the most efficient methods to preventing unnecessary confrontations.
Final Parenting Tip Thoughts
Being a good parent is hard but often times all it takes is for us to realize that as a parent we must now place our child’s well being next to our own. It is difficult to go from being a selfish single person to a responsible parent and no one has all the answers but don’t be afraid to ask for advice, help or even respite when you need it.

Very important reminder! In this crazy, static world, we need more reminders!
I’ll only add that holding your tongue and counting silently for a few moment before you react will help you respond better and more quickly diffuse any tension.
Thanks for this post – I’ll happily share!
